You log into Messenger and no Contacts on your friends list? The first you have to do is go to live.com, login with your account, and go to “Contacts“, either through “Hotmail” or “Messenger” drop-down menu that show up after hovering with the pointer.
So, here is the deal. If you see NO Contacts I am here to help you. If you DO see your Messenger Contacts then the problem is in your machine (maybe a problem with temporary files) and you have to continue searching the web for the answer (Attention: You might see some Contacts if you use Hotmail but no Messenger Contacts). Back to the topic now.
Click “Manage↓” and select “Restore deleted contacts“.
I found here all my Messenger and Hotmail Contact for some reason «deleted»! So now, all you have to do is click “Restore“. I think you also need to click “Add as friend” to show in your Messenger. Also live.com claims: “Note that you can’t restore contacts deleted more than 30 days ago” this could be a problem if you had long time to use your messenger.
